Is this company run by horny teenage pilgrims from the 15th Century? Honestly, who thought this was ok?

WTF Week: Heartland Brewery's gun-toting squaw
Not being a Native American, nor a woman, I don’t have much to say about today’s entry for WTF Week, but I’m pretty sure it’s just wrong.

Cowabunga, dude! This would be out of place even in the sleaziest sports bar. Gross.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the St Pauli Girl posters a co-worker put up in our shared office (back in the 80's when "sexual harassment" was defined differently than it is today). I retaliated with the American Express ad of Eric Hayden (my generation's Apollo Ohno) in a Speedo.
ReplyDeleteThere is all sorts of wrong with this. I hardly see anyone in Manhattan dressed like that.
There's a branch of feminism that is okay with empowered self-exploitation so if I wanted to be reeeally generous, I could make an allowance for that.
ReplyDeleteHowever, nothing about this execution backs up my generous explanation. If she were an illustration, a la St. Pauli girl meets Land 'o Lakes lady, then we probably wouldn't find it so offensive.
why the gun and the glass of the beer? wouldn't a sexy white indian be enough? also, i'm pretty sure native indians didn't shave their legs. amazingly sh*tty. are oranges even native to manhattan?? this company is a gigantic fail.
ReplyDeleteWow. Who the hell thought this was a good enough idea to see all the way through to completion? Astounding. Something like this wouldn't last a minute in my town.
