Nurse Jackie and Parenthood

Pr*tty
Clever, clever, clever. And that pharma-halo is a thing of beauty. And Edie Falco works that Aaron Eckhart hairdo remarkably well.

Sh*tty
All in all, this isn’t so badly done. Except for the part where it doesn’t look like an ad for a TV show.

I expect most people have walked past this and thought it really had something to do with good-parenting awareness. And maybe a few more observant people saw the celebrity hiding in the background and the NBC logo and figured it out.

Also, holy what the f*ck. Could that logo be any more needlessly quasi-ligatured? You know something’s wrong when your design for a multi-million dollar television show is no better than the one on the side of a garbage truck.

  1. The photo for "Parenthood" is bad. The chiaroscuro and blank expressions make that child look abused. Like that Gilmore Girl is going to tan her hide!

Maybe that's what they were going for?? But yeah, not really loving the logo for that show. I think it's the way the 'a' digs into the 'P' that annoys me.

  3. Thank you for pointing out just how Sh*tty these Parenthood ads are! They were ALL OVER my recent Entertainment Weekly magazine and I really hated them. Not only because the overall design of the ad was bad, but the text was so chiche and tired. Ugh.

  4. I can't hate on the Parenthood logo, personally. It has a Lubalin-ish quality. I feel "togetherness" was what they were trying to convey.
