Pr*tty
Not exactly a new concept, but beautifully executed. And the writing of the voiceover pairs really well with the imagery. (I’m reminded of another ad, one of my favorites.)
Sh*tty
This ad has some lush visuals, and a sweet message, but whenever I see it I find myself asking, “What does Visa have to do with going to an aquarium on a Tuesday?” Am I just a cynical bastard?
that Visa commercial has bugged me since they started running it. they've got a new cut airing now that doesnt make the clunky attempt to connect the music and the action which i think is somehow better.
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention that revised ad, Laura. Saw it last night for the first time while I was posting this. It _is_ better, but this one still deserves some criticism.
ReplyDeletePoor Morgan Freeman... his voice-over still kicks ass though.
ReplyDeleteI saw that American Express commercial when I was watching the news this morning...I immediately liked the beautiful visuals and the concept of the ad. It's great!
ReplyDeletethe transition from manta rays to little girls face creeps me out every time.
ReplyDeleteI actually don't have a big problem with the Visa ad, but I lovelovelove the American Express faces.
ReplyDeleteNice visuals indeed in the Amex ad, but I can't stomach using the Prelude from the first Bach suite for cello to sell product protection. By being sublime, it makes the message seem ridiculous...
