Johnnie Walker and Barilla pasta

Pr*tty
It’s safe to say the history of Johnnie Walker has nothing to do with any of the historical events depicted in this commercial, but that’s irrelevant. This is branding at its most evocative. It speaks of history, excellence, and distinctiveness. And the “Keep Walking” tagline is a great, simple piece of writing.

Sh*tty
This on the other hand is trying to express an actual history, and comes off as being entirely fake. The image quality is too bright and crisp, and the music is saccharine. All it succeeds in doing is showing how they took a perfectly wonderful logo and replaced it with sh*t.

  1. Agreed. I do have to say though that the fake mustache on the guy in the Barilla commercial is awesome. I didn't know you could hang a toupee from your nose.

  2. Have you seen the new ads for drambuie? It seems like they're trying to emulate the feel of the Johnnie Walker ads but darmbuie simply fails miserably.
